Karen Stone began her career in engineering, designing test equipment for the food packaging industry. After the birth of her daughter, she worked as a freelance technical illustrator and began studying art and art history. Whilst a student in Fine Art at Birmingham, her work was selected for the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists New Horizons exhibition. Since graduating, she has exhibited in London and across the UK.  Her work Crows with Yellow Square took the Unison Non Member Award at The 119th Pastel Society Annual Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London, and she has also received awards for her paintings and printmaking. Karen lives and works from her studio in Worcester, combining her studio practice with lecturing in Art and Design.

“I have always been interested in ordinary, everyday things. It fascinates me how materials and items change with fashion fads and advancing technology, and also how the world around us changes due to social and ecological climates. I use a broad selection of materials but principally work in oils and charcoal choosing subjects that command my attention.”

Karen is represented by The Old Chapel Gallery, Pembridge, Herefordshire, and Bevere Gallery, Worcester.
